Dating a man of a different race
After publishing this Expert Q&A, where a young, black reader asked for advice on ways to attract a white man, we took to Facebook and posed a similar question to our fans. Below, a snippet of the general views and opinions.
It seems race – particularly interracial pairings – is still an issue in our society.
QUESTION: I'm really attracted to a girl in my young adult's group.
I'm black and she is white, which is not a problem for me and I don't think it is for her. During one of our meetings she mentioned in passing how her family would not be (let's just say) "pleased" if she brought a black guy home.
I’m on two dating sites: e Harmony and Match Affinity – both USELESS.I can see a possibility that it could get serious between us, but I don't want to cause a rift in her relationship with her family.I don't know how this could affect our relationship (if we ever have one) short and long term. No matter how advanced of a society we are (or pretend to be), there always seems to be those age-old obstacles and impediments we seem to run into all too often. My sister gets men to commit but you wanna see the state of them – I have higher standards!I’ve spoken to my guy friends (all Caucasian) and their feedback is: it’s rare that they meet black women (let alone attractive ones) and while they’d date one, they would never settle down and have children!
There is nothing in the Bible saying it is wrong to date or marry a person of a different race.
